2022 Ford Escape

Owners of the fun-to-drive Escape can choose from four trim packages, including the S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. All models include LED exterior lighting, configurable daytime running lights, rear spoiler, privacy glass, front and rear skid plates, intermittent wipers, and dual-chrome exhaust tips. Available features include roof rails, rain-sensing wipers, and a foot-activated liftgate. The 2022 Escape is available in eight modern colors. Exterior paint options include Atlas Blue, Star White, Rapid Red, Stone Blue, Iced Blue, Iconic Silver, Carbonized Gray, and Agate Black.

A 2.0-liter I-3 engine is standard on the S, SE, and SEL trims. The Escape Titanium has a 2.0-liter I-4 engine. Automatic stop-start technology and eight-speed automatic transmission are standard on all engines. Except for the S, all trims are also available as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid. Both hybrid models feature a 2.5-liter I-4 Atkinson powertrain, electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, a 96 kW electric motor, and a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery. Plug-in hybrid models charge via a standard 110-volt outlet or an optional 240-volt charger.

Towing capacity varies from engine to engine. Properly equipped, models with the 2.0-liter engine have a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. Escape trims with a 1.5-liter I-3 engine have a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. Hybrid models can tow a maximum of 1,500 pounds. All trims include electronic traction control, roll stability control, anti-lock brakes, and electric power-assisted steering. The S, SE, SEL are front-wheel drive, with available all-wheel drive. The Titanium is all-wheel drive only. Gasoline-powered all-wheel-drive models include auto disconnect. This feature saves fuel by automatically disabling the rear driveline when not needed.

Every Escape trim provides comfortable seating for five adults. Standard comfort features include a rotary gear shift dial, multiple power points, steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, power windows, heated front seats, and a 60/40 split-folding rear bench. The top-of-the-line Titanium also has dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Available features include a panoramic moonroof, remote start system, onboard navigation, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, and head-up display. Infotainment features include Bluetooth connectivity, a touchscreen display, voice command, satellite radio, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. The SEL and Titanium trims also include a premium ten-speaker Bang and Olufsen audio system.

The 2022 Ford Escape is loaded with modern safety features. All trims include Ford's SOS Post-Crash Alert System, MyKey, a suite of advanced air bags, and second-row LATCH. Other standard features include pre-collision assist, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, dynamic brake support, lane-keeping system, automatic headlights, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, and a rearview camera. The top-of-the-line Titanium also includes intelligent cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centering, and speed sign recognition. Available options include active parking assist, evasive steering assist, and automatic high beams.
